The last few days in Bangalore hv been simply wet... Drenched would be more like it. Its been raining cats and dogs the last few days and i had a small feeling it would hit me... but did not expect it to happen... this way.

So Saturday evening i shutdown my pc and switch off the power on the way out. I was heading to my cousin's place where all the relatives were meeting. It was raining heavily... so heavily that i got almost totally wet making my way to the car :D

So I spent the evening at my uncle's place with all of my cousins. We did not care for the time, we had not been together in quite a while... I returned home around midnite and as soon as we opened the door my mother was terrified coz she smelt burning plastic... Our first assumption was that we left the Iron box on... we hv been known to do that :D

I headed straight for my room and was shocked to look at my UPS half melted away... I quickly disconnected my comp from the UPS and went to check each component of my system... My sys was ok, :)

The UPS had melted away a part of my monitor powercord and my printer cord was permanently joined to the UPS as i melted and cooled down with the UPS.

The scary part was that the small bits of plastic, something like dust particles were all over my room... including my ceiling. The wooden stand on which the UPS was kept had partially burned away.

All the time my mom was worried... what would hv happened if any thing had caught fire...

Hopefully the UPS will be replaced by the APC guys. It is still in warranty and i guess thats good :)

Now that i look at the UPS it seems wierd that only that electronic device suffered that night... Maybe it was not coz of lightning ect... I think it was mostly a fault inside the UPS... Hope they give me a better one...

I bought an UPS to protect my system not to threaten it.
